BMW can trace its roots back to Karl Rapp and Gustav Otto. In 1916, the Flugmaschinenfabrik Gustav Otto company had merged into Bayerische Flugzeug-Werke AG (BFW) at the government’s behest. In 1917, The Rapp Motorenwerke company meanwhile became Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH. . From 1917, each of the company’s products proudly displayed the BMW emblem, which incorporates the Bavarian state colours. BMW AG fully merged with BFW in 1922.
In 1972, BMW brought together all its various motor racing activities within a new wholly-owned subsidiary – BMW Motorsport GmbH. During the following years BMW earnt countless motorsports successes. Hexagon of Highgate Ltd was London’s most successful BMW dealership for 43 years. We retain a keen eye for the more interesting and rare M Powered BMW’s.
