Here at Hexagon Classics we are delighted to offer this immaculate 996 Turbo S. The car is presented in the stunning colour combination of midnight blue with maple cream leather.
The 996 was the 6th incarnation of the infamous Porsche 911 and its Turbo variants. The Turbo S was last iteration of the 996 Turbo and made standard numerous features that were cost options on the standard turbo. The standard 996 Turbo had a 3.6 litre engine, with twin turbochargers, and was water cooled, which brought power up to 420 BHP. 0 to 60 mph therefore only took 4.2 seconds. The S variant however, featured larger turbochargers, uprated intercoolers and revised engine management. What this meant was that the optional X50 power pack for the standard Turbo was included and raised power to 450bhp and cut the 0-60mph time to us 3.6 seconds. The Turbo S also came as standard with carbon ceramic brakes. Although the standard steel brakes were highly revered and praised at the time, the carbon brakes of the Turbo S moved the stopping power on to another level.
Compared with the previous 993 Turbo model, the 996 represented a virtual redesign. Cosmetically, it moved Porsche on in many significant yet subtle ways: the lines were smoothed out, the windscreen was raked back, the cabin was roomier, and the facia finally looked like it had been styled. The structure managed the neat trick of being 45 per cent stiffer yet lighter than the older model. The chassis and brakes are a perfect match for the engine’s performance.
The car on offer here today is one of the best examples available today and presents the enthusiast with the opportunity to purchase and highly specified and desirable car. The was supplied new by Porsche Centre Bournemouth and still has a complete Porsche main dealer service history.
