1987 saw the introduction of Porsche’s H program. Here the Carrera range was facelifted and revised. Many of the changes over the previous iteration of the Carrera helped to greatly improve the car and the driving experience. But, there was no doubting that the most significant change was the introduction of the Getrag G50 gearbox. This drastically enhanced the shift quality and the driving experience.
However, in 1987 Porsche achieved something of far greater importance than introducing a G50 gearbox. The company had managed to produce 250,000 911’s and decided to celebrate the milestone by producing a limited run of cars known as the Commemorative or Jubilee edition cars. In total just 875 cars were produced in Coupe, Cabriolet and Targa form. All of the cars featured the stunning diamond blue metallic paint and were filled with an extensive list of standard features that were not available in non-anniversary cars. These options included a powered passenger seat, central locking capabilities, and a more extensive wind-shield washing system. The interior was presented in silver blue crushed leather and the seats featured Ferry Porsche’s signature embossed in the headrest.
Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer one of these very rare Jubilee edition cars. The car on offer is presented in immaculate condition. Being a 1988 model year car, it features the highly desirable Getrag G50 gearbox and the revised 3.2 litre engine that produced 217bhp. With a fantastic history file, this represents a fantastic opportunity for the enthusiast to own an iconic piece of Porsche history. The car is available for immediate viewing at our London showroom.
