The ultra-rare AC Frua or AC 428 built by AC Cars at the legendry Thames Ditton production facilities. With its Italian body, British chassis, and American big block V8 it is a true hybrid. Production of the Coupé variant was only 31 right hand drive motorcars.
Our car # CF57 was supplied new to Mr A Worthington of Northolt, Middlesex on the 9th June 1971 who commissioned the car to be built in AC Mist Silver Metallic with Black Connolly Hide Interior – VM8500, as the car is presented today. We understand that the motorcar has had only five owners from new as documented in the historical chassis file.
The second keeper, Mr K Erskine of Harrow, Middlesex purchased the AC on the 3rd August 1978 and under his stewardship continued the AC’s maintenance at AC Cars Ltd and in 1990 commenced a detailed restoration by the highly regarded AC specialists Uniclip Automotive. During Mr Erskine’s ownership expenditure exceeded some GBP 90,000.00. The car has continued to receive various & frequent service work over the last 8 years.
On Hexagon Classics acquisition last year, we commenced a detailed mechanical programme and interior re trim, using the correct Connolly hides. On completion, we instructed Thunder Road Speed Shop, who together with Uniclip Automotive are regarded as the UK’s leading experts on the AC 428, to carry out an independent report of the 428 which is presented in the cars’ large historical chassis file.
